Frequently Asked Questions
How long did it take you to make [a specific piece]?
This is the most asked question I got from people who saw my work in-person! The answer is, it varies from 15 minutes to 3 hours depending on the complexity of the piece. If I am making something for the first time, it takes longer to think and test it out as well.
Can you make [a specific dish] into a Plate Button?
Plate Button uses existing materials found in the haberdashery rather making something from scratch, e.g. polymer clay, and this comes with limitations (which make the creative process more interesting). But I love a special request, so if you have something specific in mind, don’t hesitant to ask and I will have a look at whether it is doable. You are also more than welcome to browse our Instagram feed to see what have been done.
How long do I have to wait if I order something?
For items already made, order will be shipped in 72 hours. For items yet to be made, generally 3-10 days are needed for order to be shipped, and if any commission takes longer than that, this will be communicated before any payment. I will try my best to complete orders as soon as possible, but since I have a full-time job commitment, I ask for your understanding that I might not always be able to fulfil urgent orders.
How do you price your work?
Items are priced based on their material cost and labour cost (the time it took to make them), plus overhead cost such as tools, packaging supplies, website hosting service, etc. Instead of marking up the number by doubling it, I only add a 20% profit which to fund new ideas of artworks/products.
